This is especially the case with the science, technical, engineering, art, and mathematics activities, as they are quite challenging.   1. Sugar Density Rainbow

This physical science activity is easy to prepare at home or at school. You will need water, food, colour, glass jars, measuring jars, teaspoon, and sugar. Your kid will learn how to measure different substances through this experiment. For instance, he or she will measure a cup of water and pour this into each of the jars to acquire an equal amount of water. He will also measure out the food colour and place different colours into the glass jars to obtain the colours of the rainbow. The kids will then experiment with the different liquids to create varying densities by starting with zero spoons of sugar and adding one spoonful to each consecutive liquid. This engineering activity is perfect for kids in the 1 – 5th-grades. They will create the bridges using their building blocks and ensure they capture the essential sections of a bridge such as an arc, a truss, suspension, and beam. This simple experiment helps the children bring the concept of a water fountain to their home or school they can reproduce the fountain using blu-tac, a bottle, a straw, a balloon, and water. It demonstrates the idea that air occupies space. Create a hole for the straw at the side of the bottle and seal any licks. Pour water past the hole then blow the balloon and place it at the top of the bottle.

  1. Straw Roller Coasters

These also provide an amazing opportunity for the kids to learn engineering concepts. Using straws, they will try to recreate their favourite roller coasters. It teaches them about the basics of construction, such as the need for foundations and nodes in creating stability.

  1. Subtraction games

Mathematics can become lively for the kids if it is done practically. Have them count objects and subtract some to determine the remaining number. This is, even more, fun with candy, whereby the kid gets to eat the subtracted ones for every correct answer. It forms an amazing group activity.

  1. Pattern blocks

This activity enhances learning in mathematics by helping the kids appreciate the addition concepts whereas they are learning about different shapes. They can also learn about counting, measurement, and number recognition from this activity. It involves rolling the dice, counting the number of dots that appear on the face-up, and identifying the accompanying shape.

  1. Cabbage juice

Kids can help in the kitchen and learn through this STEM activity. Besides boosting their confidence that you trusted them to help with this preparation, they will learn scientific ideologies on the extraction of juice from plant products. A great way to learn about fractions is to use shapes such as circles, rectangles, and squares. The kids can learn this concept easily in their classroom or at home. You will need an aquarium that allows you to plant seeds at the top. This physics concept can be learnt from the comfort of the home, or outdoors. Kids will realize that they can carry heavy stuff easily if they create an artificial pulley system. This may involve tying a rope to the handle of a bucket full of sand, and then lifting it by sliding the rope across the doorknob.

The children can make drawings of machines they can recall or see, trying to imitate its real parameters as closely as possible.
